Obinna earned his Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in 2014. His academic journey continued with a master’s degree in clinical pharmacy and pharmacy management from the same institution in 2021, during which he produced an award-winning thesis on the burden and health status of cancer patients receiving chemotherapy in southeastern Nigeria. His professional career spans over a decade, covering various aspects of pharmacy practice. He started as a pharmacy trainee at Vegil Pharmacy Ltd, then worked as a pharmacy assistant at Wellot Pharmaceuticals before undertaking his internship at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital. During his internship, he demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities and was recognized as the Chief Intern Pharmacist for the 2015/2016 cohort. His performance earned him accolades, including the Best Intern Pharmacist award. Obinna’s expertise extends to clinical pharmacy, having served as a Clinical Pharmacist at the Federal University, Wukari, where he was responsible for coordinating pharmacy operations, training staff, dispensing medications, and patient counseling. His commitment to pharmaceutical education led him to academia, where he became a Research Assistant and Instructor at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in 2017. In 2021, he was appointed as a Lecturer II in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Management. In 2024, Obinna was promoted to a Lecturer 1 at University of Nigeria Nsukka, where he teaches, supervises students projects/thesis, conducts research, coodinates administrative staff of the department, and precepts undergraduate students during clinical clerkships/rotations. As a researcher, Obinna has made significant contributions to the field of pharmaceutical sciences, with several peer-reviewed publications in reputable journals. His research interests include Pharmacoeconomics, pharmacoepidemiology, and Pharmacotherapy. His work on mental health literacy, antimicrobial resistance, and drug utilization patterns has provided valuable insights into healthcare challenges in Nigeria and beyond. Beyond academia, Obinna is an active member of professional organizations, including the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, the Nigeria Association of Pharmacists in Academia, and the International Society of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR). He has attended and presented at various national and international conferences and workshops, further solidifying his presence in the global pharmaceutical community. Obinna’s leadership extends to volunteerism, where he has served as a Medical and Health Coordinator for the Young African Leaders Initiative since 2017. He is also a committed member of the Rotary Club of Nsukka, where he contributes to community development initiatives. His accolades include the Best Master's Thesis Award (2020/2021), recognition for his leadership in the Community Development Service in Wukari, and multiple certificates of participation in professional development programs.
