Young Investigator

Rafael Miguel Sábio is a CNPq Young Investigator at the Tuberculosis Research Laboratory - School of Pharmaceutical Science - São Paulo State University (UNESP, Brazil). He was a postdoctoral fellow at Tuberculosis Research Laboratory - School of Pharmaceutical Science - São Paulo State University (2024-2025), at University Medical Center Groningen - Department of Biomaterials & Biomedical Technology - Groningen - The Netherlands (2023-2024) and at Department of drugs and medicines - School of Pharmaceutical Science - São Paulo State University (2020-2024). He received his Ph.D. in co-tutorship regime in Materials Science and Engineering at Institut Carnot-CIRIMAT – Université de Toulouse III – Paul Sabatier, France and Institute of Chemistry – UNESP (2012-2016). He completed a master in chemistry (2010-2012) at Institute of Chemistry – UNESP with internship at Institut Carnot-CIRIMAT – Université de Toulouse III – Paul Sabatier, and graduated in Chemistry from Institute of Chemistry - UNESP (2009). He has expertise on the design of silica-based micro and nanoparticles, nanomaterials, nanomedicines, lanthanide and transition metal complexes, luminescent nanosystems, spectroscopy, electron microscopy, biopolymers, drug delivery systems, Tuberculosis and prostate cancer therapies. He has co-supervised 1 PhD student 2 MSc students and 5 undergraduate students. His interest research lies in the design of silica-based nanomedicines and their application in the pharmaceutical and biomedical fields. He published 60 papers in international peer reviewed journals, 2 patents and more than 20 proceedings (H-index 22).
