He has successfully implemented innovative processes that have increased production capacity while maintaining strict adherence to industry standards.
Previously, Rodrigo served as the In Vitro Sciences Manager at ALS Life Sciences, where he managed multiple in vitro toxicology projects. His role involved coordinating remote teams and ensuring the timely delivery of critical projects. He also developed and introduced new in vitro testing methods that align with international regulations and promote animal-free testing practices, making notable contributions to the advancement of pharmaceutical safety standards.
As a Senior Research Development Scientist at ALS Life Sciences, Rodrigo led projects focused on molecular diagnostics and genome analysis, overseeing the SmartGnostics Global Testing & Diagnostics Solutions Consortium, a project funded by Portugal’s Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR). His work has been pivotal in advancing food safety applications and molecular diagnostics.
Rodrigo is also a co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Invitrocell Avaliação Molecular e Celular LTDA in Brazil. He played an instrumental role in establishing the company as a pioneer in in vitro testing, known for its comprehensive portfolio of safety tests and adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). Under his leadership, Invitrocell developed groundbreaking solutions in genetic analysis, cell culture, and in vitro toxicity testing, serving top-tier pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
Rodrigo’s academic credentials include a PhD in Epigenetics from the Universidade de São Paulo, where he researched head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. He also completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Temple University, where he focused on epigenomics and cancer genomics, utilizing cutting-edge molecular techniques like next-generation sequencing and molecular cloning.
