Safwan Ashour, Professor & Supervisor Aleppo University, Syria Gaziantep University, Turkey Safwan Ashour (1955-….) is a Full Professor of Analytical Biochemistry at the Faculty of Sciences, Aleppo University, Syria, and is currently at the Faculty of Engineering, Gaziantep University, Turkey. Dr. Safwan received his BSc in Applied Chemistry in 1978, obtained a Diploma in Chemistry in 1979, a Master's degree in Analytical Chemistry (Electrochemistry) in 1982, and a PhD in Analytical Chemistry (Pharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry) in 1992 from Aleppo University. Dr Ashour started at Aleppo University in 1994, where he was promoted to Associate Professor in 1998 and Full Professor in 2005. In 2002, he joined the Environmental Research Center at Brunel University, London, UK, as a research fellow with a grant awarded by the Syrian Ministry of Higher Education. Prof. Ashour previously taught general chemistry, basics and applications of analytical chemistry (Quantitative and Qualitative) to Chemistry students in Aleppo and Al-Furate universities, Analytical Biochemistry to Biochemistry students in Aleppo University, and is currently teaching general chemistry to engineering students in Gaziantep University, Turkey (2016-…). He has received other recognition including; member of the graduate students examining committees of many PhD and Master’s Thesis in Analytical Chemistry; membership of the committee examining the scientific output of professors and assistant professors for specialty of Analytical Chemistry; Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Science at Aleppo University (2005- 2009); Dean of the Faculty of Science at Aleppo University (2009- 2012); Editor for International Journal of Biomedical Science, Journal of the Association of Arab Universities for Basic and Applied Sciences and Science Journal of Analytical Chemistry and a manager of quality control for pharmaceutical company (1998-2005). He also supervised 14 graduate master's and PhD students. Prof. Safwan published five books about Analytical Chemistry and 78 research papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and 23 research papers in national and international conferences. Prof. Safwan has been awarded the Bassel Award for Scientific Research 2010 (Syria). He served as a reviewer for more than 40 international journals specialized in analytical chemistry and its applications. His research focused on pharmaceutical and forensic analysis using separation techniques, mainly HPLC and GC, the development of stability-indicating assays, and chemical derivatization methods for the analysis of pharmaceutical products.
