Egyptian public university in Alexandria, founded in 1938 as a branch of Fuad I University and made independent in 1942, one of the largest universities in the country with a branch campus in South Sudan. Runs faculties of pharmacy, medicine, dentistry, science, engineering, agriculture, veterinary medicine, nursing, commerce, law and the arts with university hospitals, and its pharmacy and medicine faculties conduct research in drug design, formulation, natural products, pharmacology and clinical trials.
