Birzeit University

Palestinian university at Birzeit near Ramallah in the West Bank, whose origins lie in a girls' school of 1924 and which became a university in 1975, the oldest and one of the leading universities in Palestine. Teaches through faculties of pharmacy, nursing and health professions, science with chemistry and biology, engineering and technology, business, law and arts, and carries out research in medicinal plants and pharmaceutical sciences, public health through its Institute of Community and Public Health and water and environmental studies.
