Brazilian federal university at São João del-Rei in Minas Gerais, created in 2002 out of an earlier foundation whose teaching dates from 1987, with further campuses at Divinópolis, Sete Lagoas and Ouro Branco. Teaches medicine, pharmacy, nursing, biochemistry, chemistry, biological sciences and engineering, runs its own teaching laboratories and clinics, and carries out research in pharmaceutical sciences and natural products, biochemistry and neuroscience with graduate programmes.
