American public research university in downtown Atlanta, Georgia, founded in 1913 and one of the largest universities in the state. Its Department of Chemistry runs a long standing programme in medicinal chemistry and nucleoside and nucleotide antiviral research, the Institute for Biomedical Sciences works on infectious disease, immunology and vaccines and the Center for Diagnostics and Therapeutics supports translational drug and diagnostic development, alongside the School of Public Health and the Byrdine F. Lewis College of Nursing and Health Professions.
