Chinese amino acid manufacturer established on 30 September 1998 in the Qingpu Industrial Park in Shanghai, originally the Sino-Japanese joint venture Shanghai Kyowa Amino Acid formed by Kyowa Hakko Bio of Japan and the Guanshengyuan Group, which became a wholly Japanese owned subsidiary in 2014 and took its present name in July 2025. Researches, manufactures and sells pharmaceutical grade and food additive grade amino acids including arginine and histidine, with annual capacity of about 2,500 tonnes and one of the most complete pharmaceutical amino acid ranges in China, working to both Japanese Kyowa and Chinese Pharmacopoeia standards and holding a drug manufacturing licence and European export qualification. Occupies a site of more than 82,000 square metres with around 270 employees and supplies the pharmaceutical, health food and premium cosmetics industries.
