Algerian public university at Ouargla in the Sahara, founded as a university centre in 1987 and made a full university in 2001, named after the politician Kasdi Merbah. Teaches through its faculty of nature and life sciences with biology, biochemistry and agronomy, its faculty of mathematics and material sciences with chemistry, and its faculty of medicine, and carries out research on the medicinal and desert plants of the Sahara, natural products, food science and pharmacology with its own laboratories.
