Swedish public university in Uppsala, founded in 1477 and the oldest in the Nordic countries. Its Faculty of Pharmacy, one of the few full pharmacy faculties in Europe, teaches the pharmacy and prescriptionist degrees and doctoral programmes with departments of pharmacy and of pharmaceutical biosciences, and is internationally known for pharmacokinetics and pharmacometrics research, drug delivery and biopharmaceutics; the university also runs faculties of medicine and science with Uppsala University Hospital, the Uppsala Monitoring Centre for global pharmacovigilance nearby and research in drug discovery and translational medicine.
