Chinese pharmaceutical company headquartered in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area, combining research, manufacturing and marketing and described as the largest folic acid producer in China, with national high-tech enterprise status. Began as the experimental pharmaceutical factory of Beijing Medical University set up in October 1970 and was restructured into a limited liability company in November 2001, and its business now reaches more than three hundred and forty cities across twenty-six provinces. Its core product, Silian folic acid tablets for preventing neural tube defects and other birth defects, came out of thirteen years of Sino-American government cooperation costing twenty million US dollars with 250,000 clinical observations, received a Ministry of Health new drug certificate in 1997 and a national key new product certificate in 2003, and the company also works in reproductive health, maternal and child care, orthopaedics, oncology, gynaecology, paediatrics and geriatric disease.
