Tiểu sử

Dr. Tam Duong is originally from Vietnam. She became inspired to pursue a scientific career during her days at Vietnam National University where she did her very first gene cloning experiment for a vaccine application under supervisor Dr. Thuoc Linh Tran and received her Bachelor degree in 2006. To obtain more knowledge in science, she moved to South Korea for her Master degree in Biomedical Sciences, at Chonnam National University, studied protein delivery therapy for anti-cancer treatment under the tutelage of Dr. Daewoong Jo. There, she also had an opportunity to join ProCell Therapeutics Inc., and focused on developing Macromolecule Intracellular Transduction Technology. From 2009 - 2013, she lived and studied for 4 years in Australia for her PhD in Molecular Genetics, at University of Queensland, her research focused on the role of a transcription factor in early vascular development in health and disease conditions, under supervision of Dr. Mathias Francois and Dr. Peter Koopman. Her PhD works were published in Cancer Research, 2012, and Blood, 2014. From 2014 - 2020, she was a postdoc with Dr. David Reiner, at Texas A&M University in Houston, and studied molecular pathways that control developmental checkpoint in C. elegans. There, she learnt and gained experience in advanced molecular biology such as CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing and RNA sequencing. Her research training gave her opportunities to travel around the world where she got to learn not just advanced science but also cultural diversity. From July 2021, she joined Research and Development Team at Lonza for Cell and Gene Therapy, in Houston, the team focuses on developing high-throughput viral vector characterization assays to support upstream and downstream works. Together, she hopes to find a better solution and contribute to the growth of Lonza R&D team. When not being a scientist, Dr. Duong enjoys baking cake, cooking favorite Vietnamese food, swimming and playing piano and tennis. She lives in Sugar Land with her husband Huy, their son Kevin and daughter Kayla.
