Mediscan operates one Rhodotron TT-100 and one Rhodotron TT-300 electron accelerator, each capable of producing high-energy electrons or photons. X-rays are generated by directing an electron beam at a metal plate, which emits high-energy photons comparable in action to photons from Cobalt-60 gamma decay. The machine offers a thoroughly characterized X-ray field, excellent dose homogeneity, and the ability to apply extremely low doses with high accuracy, as required for inactivating blood and blood products. Beyond routine treatment, this technology opens new possibilities for optimizing product treatment and adapting processes to complex products.
