Scientist

Prof. Theile is a researcher and lecturer at Heidelberg University Hospital and the University of Heidelberg (Germany). Dirk studied biology in Karlsruhe and Heidelberg. After majoring in molecular biology, biochemistry, and pharmacology, he stuck with pharmacology and obtained his PhD in clinical pharmacology. After a post-doctoral scholarship at City of Hope Medical Center (Duarte, USA), he returned to Heidelberg University Hospital to become an adjunct professor. Prof. Theile is a certified pharmacologist (DGPT). He teaches pharmacology to students of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, and molecular biotechnology. His major scientific interests comprise drug transport, drug metabolism, pharmacokinetic drug-drug interactions, cellular PK-PD relationships, and the pharmacology of anti-cancer drugs, especially platinum-containing compounds.
