Scientific Officer Toxicology

Jochem studied Biology (specialization animal biology) at Wageningen university. After his MSc studies he did his PhD research at the Toxicology chair group of Wageningen University (in collaboration with UU-IRAS and TNO) where he worked on the development of animal-free methods for the hazard characterization of chemicals. After his PhD, Jochem worked as a postdoc on the development of in vitro models based on human stem cells at the EURL-ECVAM of the Joint Research Center (JRC) in Italy. After this postdoc, Jochem worked as an assistant professor Toxicology at the Wageningen University, after which he started working as a toxicologist at the KWR Watercycle Research Institute. From 2018 to 2023 Jochem worked as a toxicologist at Wageningen Food Safety Research (WFSR), where he mainly focused on the development and application of animal-free methods for the hazard characterization of chemicals. Since February 2023, Jochem works as Scientific Officer at the European Food Safety Authority.
