She received her Ph.D. degree in medical informatics from the Health Informatics Department of the Informatics Institute at Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey. She obtained her B.S. degree in electronics and communications engineering from Yıldız Technical University, Istanbul, and her M.S. degree in medical informatics from Akdeniz University, Antalya, Turkey. She has worked at Bilisim LTD. Company, the Computer Center of Akdeniz University, Antalya, the Computer Center of Hacettepe University Hospitals, and the Department of Computer Engineering at Çankaya University, Ankara, Turkey, respectively. She visited the Biomedical Text Mining Research Group at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI), Cambridge, United Kingdom. She is currently working as a Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering at Istanbul Okan University, Istanbul, Turkey. Her research areas include biomedical data and machine learning. She is a member of the Turkish Medical Informatics Association.
