American private Christian research university at Waco in Texas, chartered in 1845 and the oldest continuously operating university in the state. Teaches through its College of Arts and Sciences with chemistry and biochemistry, biology and environmental science, the Louise Herrington School of Nursing in Dallas, the Robbins College of Health and Human Sciences with nutrition and public health, and schools of engineering, law and business, and carries out research in environmental science, analytical chemistry and health with its own laboratories and doctoral programmes.
