Syrian public university in Latakia on the Mediterranean coast, founded in 1971 and named after the October war. Runs a Faculty of Pharmacy teaching the pharmacy degree with departments of pharmaceutics and pharmaceutical technology, pharmaceutical chemistry and quality control, pharmacognosy and pharmacology, together with faculties of medicine, dentistry, science, agriculture and engineering and the Tishreen university hospital, carrying out research in medicinal plants of the coastal region, drug analysis and clinical medicine.
