Latvian public university in Riga, founded in 1919 and the largest university in the country. Teaches pharmacy, medicine, chemistry, biology and biotechnology through its faculties of medicine and of science and technology, works with Riga hospitals for clinical teaching, and carries out research in medicinal and analytical chemistry, microbiology, biomedicine and public health with its own institutes.
