The South Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare announced on the 4th that the 2027 government budget includes 13.4 billion KRW to ensure timely treatment and reintegration of drug‑addiction patients.
The allocation represents a 38% increase (3.7 billion KRW) over the previous year’s budget and focuses on strengthening the link between treatment and recovery while expanding treatment infrastructure.
Over the past two decades, the number of drug offenders has more than tripled, rising from 7,100 in 2005 to a projected 23,400 in 2025.
