I am a graduate of a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Gondar and an MSc in Pharmaceutics from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. I am a pharmaceutics PhD candidate at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Rhodes University, Makhanda, South Africa. I worked as a lecturer and researcher of pharmaceutics at Haramaya University and Wachemo University, Ethiopia, for over eight years. I have immense aspirations of applying the principles of pharmaceutical sciences such as advanced drug delivery, targeted drug delivery to cancer cells, drug delivery to the brain, advanced treatment development for HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, studies on antimicrobial resistance, and drug development from natural sources particularly from plants. I had a good academic background from early schools. My bachelor's and master's academic achievements were also fascinating and full of challenges and successes. Having graduated with my undergrad degree, I served the Ethiopian Somali Regional Health Bureau and health facilities as a pharmacist. After completing my master's, I have served as a lecturer and researcher of pharmaceutics and taught pharmaceutics, physical pharmacy and industrial pharmacy courses to pharmacy students at various universities in Ethiopia. I served as head of the department of pharmacy at Wachemo University, Ethiopia for over two years. I am a full-member of the Ethiopian Pharmacists Association, and member of Association of African Universities, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. My current doctoral work is aimed at developing and optimising palatable paediatric ARV drug formulations employing nanotechnology. Completing my doctoral studies, I plan to collaborate with researchers and professionals from across the globe and work on projects of scientific, academic and societal importance.
