Isabel Adrados, PhD, serves as an Assistant Professor in Anatomy and Embryology at the University Complutense of Madrid, where her primary research interests lie in molecular and descriptive embryology. She is a member of the Spanish Society of Anatomy. Dr. Adrados earned her PhD in 2014 from the Institute of Biomedical Research in Madrid. During her doctoral studies, she delved into the exploration of novel roles of SIX1, a pivotal homeobox transcription factor crucial during embryogenesis. Her groundbreaking research elucidated SIX1's control over cell senescence by regulating p16INK4a and differentiation genes. Additionally, she conducted research at Imperial College London, investigating the role of SIX1 in cell reprogramming. Before assuming her current position, Dr. Adrados pursued two postdoctoral positions focusing on cancer research. Initially, she conducted research at Scripps Research Institute in the USA, concentrating on brain cancer and drug discovery. Subsequently, at the Institute of Neurosciences in Alicante, she continued her investigation into brain cancer, particularly emphasizing the genetics underlying pediatric cancer.
