Nuhu Tukur is a biomedical scientist and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) with expertise in tuberculosis (TB) drug discovery. After earning his veterinary degree, he pursued an MSc in Molecular Biology. He is currently a doctoral fellow with the African TB drug discovery flagship initiative, the Grand Challenges Africa Drug Discovery Accelerator consortium (GC-ADDA-4-TB), hosted at the Stellenbosch University Biomedical Research Institute within the SAMRC Centre for TB Research. His work focuses on CRISPRi-based approaches and targeted protein degradation technologies, such as BacPROTACs, to uncover and validate new anti-TB drug targets, as well as to identify promising hits and early lead compounds. His research integrates fundamental biological insights with translational strategies in drug development.
