Tasneem Mahmasa is a Master’s student in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), Portugal. She previously obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (IPB). Her academic interests focus on biomedical engineering, biomaterials, and sustainable approaches for the development of innovative materials with potential biomedical applications. Throughout her academic career, she has developed a strong interest in scientific research and biomedical innovation. Tasneem has been involved in several interdisciplinary projects that have allowed her to build technical and analytical skills. These projects include finite element analysis for dental implants, the development of a digital platform to improve accessibility to legal information for people with disabilities and special needs, and the programming of algorithms for automated bacterial counting in Petri plates. During her Erasmus mobility in Finland, she worked on validation systems for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), including the development of methods to calculate and monitor the forces applied during chest compressions.
