Dr. Yoshiro Tani has a variety of professionalities including nonclinical toxicology, toxicologic pathology, drug development, regulatory affairs (in nonclinical field), regulatory operations, and publication. Yoshiro Tani started his professional career at Sankyo Co., Ltd. in 1992 as a toxicologist and toxicologic pathologist to screen drug candidates. From 2007 to 2013, Yoshiro Tani led toxicology screening team at Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. as Senior Director. During 2013 thru 2015, Yoshiro Tani was assigned as Head, Department of Toxicology, Daiichi Sankyo Life Science Research Centre in India, Gurgaon, India to establish a toxicology function there. From 2015 to 2017, Yoshiro Tani led a general toxicology team specialized for mid-sized animals and evaluated toxicology of oncologic ADC candidates and more. In 2017, his expertise in nonclinical regulatory affairs and regulatory operations started at New Drug Regulatory Affairs Department of Daiichi Sankyo. Yoshiro Tani directed nonclinical regulatory documents creation as well as publishing work for regulatory documents to be submitted to PMDA, FDA, EMA and more. From 2023 to 2025, Yoshiro Tani was responsible for global publication at Medical Affairs Publication, Daiichi Sankyo to manage publication work (manuscripts, abstracts, presentations, and posters) at Daiichi Sankyo and external partners. As of April 2025, Yoshiro Tani restarted his work at Nonclinical Regulatory Affairs, Daiichi Sankyo. Yoshiro Tani majored veterinary pathology at Department of Veterinary Pathology, the Faculty of Agriculture, The University of Tokyo under the direction of Professor Naoaki Goto. In 2001, Yoshiro Tani received a PhD from the Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences, The University of Tokyo under the direction of Professor Kunio Doi. The thesis was about the effects of growth hormone on thioacetamide-induced liver injury and cirrhosis in genetically engineered rats carrying human growth hormone gene. Yoshiro Tani has been certified as DVM (veterinarian) by MAFF, Japan since 1992, as toxicologist by Japanese Society of Toxicology (Diplomate, JSOT) since 2001, and as toxicologic pathologist by the Japanese Society of Toxicologic Pathology (Diplomate, JSTP) since 2005.
