Bayan Azizi, PharmD, is a PhD candidate in Clinical Pharmacy Translational Sciences at the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy. Her research focuses on cardiovascular pharmacogenetics, cardiometabolic disorders, and cardiovascular drug discovery, with a particular interest in understanding how genetic and clinical factors influence drug response, treatment effectiveness, and therapeutic outcomes in cardiovascular disease. Her dissertation investigates the role of the ADRB1 Arg389Gly variant in beta-blocker response among patients with heart failure. Building on her clinical training as a pharmacist and prior research experience at the Cardiovascular Diseases Research Institute at Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Bayan aims to bridge pharmacogenetic discovery, cardiovascular therapeutics, and clinical implementation. Her long-term research goal is to improve outcomes for patients with cardiovascular and cardiometabolic diseases by identifying genetic, clinical, and real-world determinants of treatment response and translating these findings into clinically actionable strategies that optimize therapy and reduce variability in care. Her scholarly work includes peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and research presentations in cardiovascular pharmacogenetics, cardiometabolic disorders, and cardiovascular drug discovery. She also serves as a Graduate Student Instructor in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy at the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy.
