专业摘要
Dr. Biswajit Kundu is a medicinal chemist specializing in small-molecule drug discovery and translational medicinal chemistry. He is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Johns Hopkins University, where he leads medicinal chemistry efforts focused on developing brain-penetrant inhibitors of neutral sphingomyelinase 2 (nSMase2) for neurological disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease.
Prior to joining Johns Hopkins, he worked at National Institutes of Health on soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) inhibitors and contributed to projects involving pharmacokinetics, oral bioavailability, and rodent disease models. He earned his Ph.D. in Organic and Medicinal Chemistry from CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, where his research focused on topoisomerase I inhibitors and Toll-like receptor antagonists.
His expertise includes synthetic organic chemistry, SAR-guided optimization, ADME/DMPK integration, molecular docking, and interdisciplinary drug discovery collaborations. Dr. Kundu has authored several peer-reviewed publications in medicinal chemistry and is an inventor on multiple U.S. patents and Indian patent applications. He is the recipient of several awards, including a P30 NIMH Pilot Research Grant 2025 (funded by NIH) and the 2026 Postdoctoral Research Accelerator Award and NIH Research Mentor Award.
