Researcher and Developer

Dimitra Panou is a Ph.D. student in Artificial Intelligence at the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Her research focuses on generative adversarial learning for transformer-based large language models (LLMs) in the biomedical domain. She holds an M.Sc. in Data Science from the same department, where her thesis explored deep reinforcement learning techniques for protein structure prediction (DeepFoldit). Since 2022, Dimitra has been working at the National Center for Scientific Research “Demokritos,” contributing as a Full Stack Developer and Project Manager to multiple high-impact EU Horizon projects. Her work on ClimateAdapt4EOSC, TransformAR, Life Resystal, and MED-IREN involves designing and implementing FAIR-compliant services and tools, integrating climate and health data, and ensuring reproducibility through standardized workflows and data pipelines. She plays a key role in the development of digital applications that support climate adaptation and public health planning, aligned with EOSC principles. Prior to this, she worked at the Biomedical Sciences Research Center “Alexander Fleming,” where she contributed to the EOSC-Life and ELIXIR-GR programs. Her responsibilities included infrastructure development, containerization of bioinformatics tools, and supporting interoperability through workflow standardization in cloud-native environments.
