I completed my Ph.D. in the department of physical-chemistry at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM), focusing on the study of liposomes, lipid nanoparticles and their interactions with various polymers. Following my Ph.D., I worked for four years at the LEITAT Technology Center in the R&D department, where I contributed to national, european, and industrial projects. I served as the manager of a specialized group in plasma technology and was involved in encapsulation techniques such as spray-drying, polymerization, and coacervation. In 2018, I initiated a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project in Glasgow, collaborating with AB Vista and the University of Strathclyde for two years. This project aimed to develop novel nano-delivery systems that incorporate bio-active lipids and peptides into animal feed formulations. The focus was on effective antimicrobial stewardship to mitigate antibiotic resistance in the food chain while ensuring animal welfare. In 2020, I commenced a new project building on the KTP experience, partnering with AB Vista and Abitec. This project primarily involves the development of lipidic delivery systems, specifically cubosomes, utilizing microfluidics to enhance our understanding of their formation phases and improve their biological activity. Research interests: - Liposomes and other nanostructures as drug carriers (lipid nanoparticles, polymeric nanoparticles,...) - Stability testing of drug delivery systems - Optimization of drug delivery systems (including drug entrapment efficiency, particle size, rheological properties, drug release, safety in animal models, and efficiency in vivo and ex vivo) - Utilization of a chick embryo infection model to evaluate the efficacy of lipidic delivery systems
