Dr. Mohammed Ali is an Associate Professor of the Department of Technology at Jackson State University (JSU), Jackson, Mississippi. He is directing Biosimulation and Aerosol Research Lab at the department where graduate and undergraduate students pursuing cutting edge experiments in the area of biomedical engineering. He has published 30 plus peer-reviewed journal articles and a book chapter, and has presented in 40 plus national and international conferences. His research interests are: Bioengineered Drug Design and Non-invasive Delivery, Modeling and Simulation of Lung Airways Flows and Deposition; Computation in Biomedical Engineering; Attracting Minorities in Manufacturing Engineering and Energy Technology; Data Mining on Student’s College Performance and Retention; Continuing Education and Outreach on STEM. Dr. Ali received numerous honors and awards. Among them the US National Faculty Excellence Award by the Association of Technology, Management and Applied Engineering is commendable to be mentioned. This rigorous peer-reviewed ATMAE award of high honor is only given to those faculties of 4-yr engineering and technology programs in the country who have demonstrated excellence in teaching, research and service in an academic career. Dr. Mohammed Ali has B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, M.B.A in Management of Technology, M.S. Computer Science, and Ph.D. in Biomedical Instrumentation from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. As a visiting research professor under summer faculty fellowship program Dr. Ali has been teamed up with the scientists in the US Navy and US Air Force since 2010 to investigate novel methodology for pulmonary drug delivery and bio-simulation of the aerosolized particle flow and suspension the human lung. Findings of their research showed that accelerated attenuation of pathogenic viruses can be achieved by contacting them with iodide oxidants in such that virus’s half-life turns out to be about a minute.
