Mulugeta Russom is a Pharmacist, completed his masters and PhD in Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacovigilance from EU2P and Erasmus University Rotterdam respectively. He is head of the Eritrean Pharmacovigilance Centre and advisor to the WHO on safety of medicinal products and COVID-19 therapeutics. With his leadership, the Eritrean Pharmacovigilance Centre is currently recognized as one of the top performing countries in Africa. Mulugeta is a pharmacovigilance consultant having extensive knowledge and experience on medicines risk identification, benefit-risk evaluation and signal management. Mulugeta published over 45 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals and five books. He is an experienced medical writer, reviewer/editorial board member in several scientific journals and associate editor on the International Journal of Risk and Safety in Medicine. Currently, Mulugeta is member of a dozen of international societies/organizations and Secretary of the National Medicines and Therapeutics Committee and Eritrean Pharmaceutical Association and board of directors of EriPCO. Mulugeta has travelled to more than 20 countries, in four continents, for presenting scientific papers, attending conferences and workshops.
