专业摘要

I am a PhD candidate in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UCPSc), Kakatiya University, Warangal, Telangana, India. I have more than five years of hands-on research experience in advanced drug delivery systems, nanomedicine and preclinical pharmacokinetics. My doctoral thesis is on the development and evaluation of Self-Double Emulsifying Drug Delivery Systems (SDEDDS) for BCS Class III drugs. Class III drugs are a class of molecules that have been a long-standing challenge for efficient oral therapy due to their poor permeability across biological membranes. My PhD research has mainly been focused on the design and optimisation of SDEDDS formulations for two clinically relevant BCS Class III drugs, namely Famotidine, a histamine H2-receptor antagonist used in acid-related gastrointestinal disorders, and Lisinopril dihydrate, an ACE inhibitor widely prescribed for hypertension and heart failure. I developed stable solid SDEDDS formulations using pseudo-ternary phase diagrams and systematic solubility screening, which significantly improve the intestinal permeation and oral bioavailability of these drugs. I have published my work on Famotidine in the Journal of Pharmaceutical Innovation (2025) with my supervisor Prof. K. Veerabrahma, and this will be one of the first reported solid SDEDDS systems for this molecule. One of the unique features of my research is its translational relevance.” Level A in vitro-in vivo correlations (IVIVC) were established and developed predictive models that correlate dissolution behaviour directly to in vivo pharmacokinetic performance. This kind of IVIVC data can be used directly in regulatory submissions for new drug applications (NDA) and abbreviated new drug applications (ANDA), and is a testament to my commitment to formulation science that bridges the laboratory and the clinic. I have carried out my preclinical pharmacokinetic studies in Wistar rats, with oral dosing, blood collection from the retro-orbital sinus, plasma separation and drug quantification – skills I have acquired totally during my doctoral programme. For physicochemical characterisation of my nanoformulations, I routinely use Zetasizer analysis to measure particle size, polydispersity index and zeta potential as well as differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), HPLC and UFLC. These techniques together allow me to understand the thermodynamic and structural properties of my formulations and to optimize them for stability and performance. I began my research work during my M. Pharmacy (Pharmaceutics) at the same institution by preparing a Clarithromycin nanosuspension by high-pressure homogenization and probe sonication. The project was a complete physicochemical evaluation and in vivo pharmacokinetic study in rats and was presented at APTICON-2016, held at Manipal University. This work cemented my interest in nanoformulation science and has been the guiding force behind my doctoral career. Apart from the lab, I have been engaged in pharmaceutical education as an Assistant Professor at Aurobindo College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Warangal from November 2016 to May 2018. During this time, I taught Pharmaceutics, Drug Delivery Systems and Biopharmaceutics to undergraduate and postgraduate pharmacy students, mentored student research projects and supervised laboratory practicals. Teaching has broadened my understanding of the principles of formulation and enhanced my ability to convey complex scientific ideas in a clear manner. I have been able to present my research at many national forums such as 72nd Indian Pharmaceutical Congress, Nagpur, 2023;73rd Indian Pharmaceutical Congress, Hyderabad, 2024 and Telangana Science Congress 2025 where I delivered oral presentation on my Famotidine SDEDDS work. These experiences have helped me to build up my scientific communication skills and connect with the larger pharmaceutical research community in India. I was awarded the Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship (RGNF) by the University Grants Commission (UGC), India, for my PhD period. I have qualified Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT-2013) and was awarded with AICTE fellowship for M.Pharmacy. I am a registered pharmacist with the State Pharmacy Council of Telangana and have certifications in Good Review Practices and Good Regulatory Practices from CDSCO-WHO-THSTI (2025), which shows my involvement in the regulatory aspects of drug development. My broader research interests encompass self-emulsifying and self-double-emulsifying systems, nanosuspensions, liposomes, solid lipid nanoparticles, solid dispersions, transdermal drug delivery, and Quality by Design (QbD) approaches in formulation development. My research interests are focused on the design of novel carriers for enhancing the oral bioavailability of poorly permeable, poorly soluble drugs.
