Dr. Irin Dewan is a Professor in the Department of Pharmacy at the University of Asia Pacific, Bangladesh. With a profound academic and professional background in pharmaceutical sciences, Dr. Dewan has over two decades of experience in teaching, research, and industry. She holds a Ph.D. in Advanced Pharmaceutical Technology from Jahangirnagar University, along with an MS in Pharmaceutical Technology and a B.Pharm (Hons) from the University of Asia Pacific. Additionally, she earned an MBA in Marketing from Stamford University, Bangladesh.
Her research focuses on advanced drug delivery systems, including biodegradable implants, nanoparticles, microspheres, liposomes, and niosomes, with a special interest in phyto-constituent-based nano formulations and metal nanoparticle-drug conjugates. She has published extensively in international peer-reviewed journals, contributing over 45 articles in reputed pharmaceutical and biomedical science journals.
Beyond research, Dr. Dewan is actively involved in academic leadership and policy-making. She serves as Head of the Department of Pharmacy and Director of IEERD (Institutional Quality Assurance and Enhancement Cell) at the University of Asia Pacific. She is also a member of several key academic and administrative bodies, including the Syndicate, Academic Council, and various departmental committees.
Her contributions to pharmaceutical education are recognized through numerous awards, including the University of Asia Pacific Merit Scholarship and recognition as “Student of the Year” in 2001. She is a registered pharmacist with the Pharmacy Council of Bangladesh and an active member of the Bangladesh Pharmaceutical Society.
Dr. Dewan's career also includes significant industrial experience at Navana Pharmaceuticals Ltd., where she worked in marketing and product development roles before transitioning to academia.
