Founded in 1995 when chairman Li Yongzhao and roughly 40 employees established Qingdao Huanhai Fine Chemical Plant at a local salt works with RMB 1 million in registered capital and 450 tons of annual output, Qingdao Makall Group Co., Ltd. grew through the registration of Qingdao MeiJing Chemical Co. in 1996 and Qingdao Meigao Chemical Co. in 1997 before its 1999 development of 'amorphous cat litter,' a product that caused a sensation in the US market and was hailed as a revolution in pet products, propelling the company onto a fast growth track; it was formally established as Qingdao Makall Group Co., Ltd. in 2002. Today the company is a distributor, retailer and manufacturer of API equipment and microbial/fermentation reagents, offering CRO, CMO and CDMO contract manufacturing under its own brand to markets across North America, Latin America, Western and Eastern Europe, Australasia, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. It holds 14 national patents (including 7 invention patents) among 40 independently developed new products, was the first privately-run business to host a Qingdao Arbitration Commission office, and is recognized for brand strength, international approvals, an experienced R&D staff, reliable delivery, production capacity, a large product line and strong industry reputation.
